so last night i went and saw this movie. it was pretty amazing. i am still pondering what i think about it. not that it was an incredibly "deep" movie or something that is so thought provoking that you dont really get it. its more about the characters, and seeing pieces of your self either in or not in these boys. my friend Rodney sees himself in both characters...i wonder what that means? he also so me as one of the boys. i wonder which one?
one other big theme that is in this movie is actually what the title of my blogspot is all about. being sync'd to the world and being separate from it. the amazing tension that we as Xtians really live in. the boy in the movie, who is a Plymouth Brethren has never watched TV or partaken in anything this world has to offer. he finds his identity in his art and imagination. until he is introduced to John Rambo. the movie isnt really about rambo as much as it is about this kid figuring out who he really is and what life is all about. in the end, the movie is about relationships. how we are all really deeply rooted in them and need them. whether we are the social outcast, the punk kid, the popular one, the ones following the trends....everyone in the movie was broken to a degree and they only found meaning in coming together to shoot a silly movie.
anyway, you should check it out.
****4 stars.
